Ordinary People

Ok folks, this is not going to be your typical "outfit of the day" post. I might post an outfit here and there but it's definitely not going to be a daily thing. But last night I got inspired: We watched "Ordinary People", the 1980 classic starring Timothy Hutton, Mary Tyler Moore and Donald Sutherland. The fashion resembles an early 1980's J. Crew catalogue in my opinion. Very East Coast, very Ralph Lauren. Turtle necks, button ups, crew necks and high waisted trousers. I especially got inspired by one scene, where Mary Tyler Moore was wearing a button up blouse with a brooch pinned underneath her collar. So elegant and sophisticated, but yet timeless. A couple days ago I found a vintage "Diane von Fuerstenberg" button up shirt at my favorite local Vintage boutique, "The Grove", which pattern actually reminds very much of Burberry, and I decided to try the combo with a cameo pin. Works pretty well, as I think, even 33 years later. (I did wear a trench coat on top, but had it off for the picture - next time!)
